Paris and Milan Fashion Week

The fashion houses of Milan and Paris came back to the runway this year among much anticipation. The Paris Haute Couture Week, kicked off the first fashion month of 2022. There was a mix of digital and physical shows held during the week, which started from 24th January and continued to 27th January. The prominent fashion houses that held physical shows included Christian Dior, Schiaparelli, Chanel and Valentine, and Alexandre Vauthier, among others. Besides these, around 7 fashion houses staged video presentations, while another 6 held purely digital shows. The fashion week also saw many celebrities in attendance, from Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Adut Akech Bior to Kanye West and Julia Fox.

 

The Men’s Fashion Week in Milan was held from 14th January to 18th January to showcase the 2022-2023 Autumn/Winter collection. The fashion week featured around 23 physical shows, 24 presentations, and 9 digital shows. Prominent brands like Prada, Fendi, Ermenegildo Zegna, Dolce & Gabbana, and Mgsm showcased their collection. The Milan Men’s Fashion Week was a star-studded event, with famous celebrities like Jeff Goldblum, Kyle MacLachlan, Asa Butterfield, and Ashton Sanders walking the runway.

 

In this article, we will take a look at some of Sovrce Lvxe’s favourite collections, runway and street style looks from the 2022 Paris and Milan fashion weeks.

 

Alexandre Vauthier Couture SS22

 

The new Spring/Summer collection from Alexandre Vauthier featured slouchy pants, sequin gowns, power suits, and peplum jackets with strong shoulders. The collection aimed to showcase the resurgence of energy in the world of fashion after the crisis faced in the past 24 months.

Dior AW22

The Autumn/Winter Men’s Fashion collection by Dior gives a new perspective to the New Look. The collection featured puffer jackets covered in organza, satin berets, and suits with flowy silhouettes. 

Ami AW22

Alexandre Mattiussi chose Palais Brongniart as his venue for showing the fall collection of Ami. The collection had drawn inspiration from French wardrobe tropes to present it in a new light. The collection featured slip dresses, trench coats, aviator jackets, and some cool boxy outerwear too.

Dolce & Gabbana AW22

The new Dolce & Gabbana Fall collection was designed to appeal to those who like impactful genres in fashion. The collection featured suits with crystals and metallic studs and overblown pants, puffed piuminos with black and white D&C logo.

Prada AW22

The highlight of the Prada Men’s Fall season collection was watching Hollywood Actor Jeff Goldblum walk down the aisle wearing a furry, dark overcoat. The Prada AW22 collection featured overcoats with mohair trimmings, bombers with cinched waists, and overalls.

Fendi AW22

The new Fendi collection celebrated a classic wardrobe that can be used to dress for occasions too. The collection featured a classic men’s color pallete, along with checks and houndstooth patterned clothing items. It also featured knitwear with a V-shaped cutaway at the neck.

Street Styles Looks

Among our favorite street looks captured by Acielle @ Style Du Monde this year are –

·     Tina Kunakey’s long fur coat ensemble as she attends Alexandre Vauthier’s show.

·     Christine Chiu’s all-black dress and hat as she arrived at the Valentino Haute Couture show in Paris 2022.

Some other great street style looks were captured by @modehunter for Pause magazine. These featured men and women in flowy yet structured suits, green knitwear combined with orange trousers, among other looks.

Louis Vuitton SS22

This year’s Louis Vuitton Fall Collection was artistically directed by Virgil Abloh. The collection turned the world of fashion inside out and upside down. The collection was designed to transgress and transcend genres. It featured sportswear with tailoring and bridalwear that can also be considered streetwear.

Dior SS22 

The 2022 Spring/Summer collection of Dior celebrated embroidery as something that gives the fabric its architecture and structure. The collection was created by Maria Grazia Chiuri in the collaboration with Indian artists Manu and Madhvi Parekh, the Chanakya School of Craft, and the Chanakya Atelier.

Schiaparelli Couture SS22 

Schiaparelli had taken inspiration from elemental goddesses and ancient cosmology to create a new Spring/Summer collection this year. Creative designer Daniel Roseberry used a minimalist palette of gold, white and black to conjure up powerful, God-like images of women.

Kenzo AW22

The new creative director, Nigo, took the helm of the fall collection of Kenzo fashion house this year. The collection featured retro-style clothing in cheerful patina, dusty colors, and cheerful fabrics.

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture SS22

The Jean Paul Gaultier Couture collection was designed on a magical and fun theme. The highlight of the collection was mariniere dress, which featured faux coral faunds and hand embroidery to give it a 3D ripple effect. Besides this, the collection also consisted of jacquard knits and gorgeous evening dresses.

Valentino Couture SS22

With this Spring/Summer Valentino collection, Pierpaolo Piccioli aimed at making haute couture finds its relevance in a progressive world. The collection was designed keeping in mind the different ages and body shapes. The collection featured organza drape gowns, sequinned maxi skirts, and chic wide led trousers.

Conclusion

With 2022 starting off on a good note, the fashion enthusiasts are looking forward to what the fashion houses are looking to bring for fall 2022 in the upcoming fashion weeks. According to Vogue, Fashion Week across (Paris, Milan, Copenhagen, New York and London) will be taking place from January 28th - February 22nd. With New York currently hosting we are looking forward to seeing some of our key favourite brands from Proenza  Schouler, Christian Cowan, Jason Wu, Dion Lee, Coach, Peter Do and more to say least.
